FUE and DHI compared
In both methods grafts are usually removed one by one from the back of the head. The main difference is how they are placed. There is no single “better” method; the right choice depends on your hair loss and donor area.
| Topic | FUE | DHI |
|---|---|---|
| Placement | Channels are opened first, then grafts are placed | Channel and placement happen together with a pen tool |
| Area | Often used for larger areas | Often used for the hairline and small areas |
| Shaving | Usually needed | Not needed in some cases |
| Time | Depends on the number of grafts | Depends on the number of grafts, often more involved |
Can they be combined?
Yes. Some plans use DHI at the hairline and FUE further back.
How is the decision made?
The doctor looks at donor density, the treatment area and your expectations. You can start with photos.
